Hi again everyone, I’m going pick up where we left off last time, in 2019 after 2 years of suffering with gut health issues, I had my gallbladder removed.
10 days after procedure I went on holiday, I was recovering well and still eating my normal bland diet, but you know what, I was starting to feel better within myself and thinking I’d turned a corner!
I was really positive and was praying this procedure had worked miracles and that I would be able to start reintroducing things back into my diet.
But the symptoms slowly started to come back, first was the fatigue and discomfort and then the pain and diarrhoea, I had been through so much and it was started to feel like it was all for nothing, in October 2019 I went back to see the surgeon who had carried out my gallbladder procedure. I had a good recovery, but had to explain that it seemed like every time I ate meat or anything high in fat, I was having episodes of extreme bloating and Diarrhoea. I also had noticed that one of the scars (the one under my breasts) had a slight lump which has resulted into a small hernia, and the bloating from eating high fat content has left me with a mild fat intolerance to add to all the others!
Throughout 2020 I worked with a nutritionist, really focussing on different food groups and finding things I could eat – like Oreo Cookies which are vegan and one of my safe foods but I over did it and ended up making ill from eating too much cocoa, it’s been a long process of constantly learning what works and making adjustments.
Next time I’ll be sharing my food diary and tips that worked for me, if you’re experiencing IBS symptoms, I really recommend you keep a diary to see what foods trigger your symptoms – I’ll also be talking about how to navigate trips to the supermarket, understanding food labels and how you can still eat at a restaurant without running to the bathroom as soon as dinner is finished!
Stayed tuned guys and please do share your experiences with me, I’d love to know what works for you or if anyone has had a similar experience to me or if anyone is currently considering having their Gallbladder removed
